How to activate and share an online quiz with participants
A practical checklist from reviewing the questions and activating the quiz to sharing a tested link or QR code.
What quiz activation means
Activation makes a prepared quiz available to participants. It does not change questions or results; it controls whether the public link can be opened. You can therefore build and review a quiz before releasing it.
Before activation, test the question order, correct answers, images and final message.
Activate the quiz step by step
- Sign in to Quiz Code and open your quiz list.
- Complete the questions and answers.
- Return to the quiz view and open the preview.
- Select Activate when the quiz is ready.
- Open the public link on a phone or in a private browser window and complete a test run.
Only an active quiz is available to participants. If they see an inactive message, verify the status in the organiser dashboard.
Share access with participants
The preview contains a direct URL and a QR code for the same quiz. Display the QR code during an in-person event or send the link by email, chat or a learning platform.
Test the published link outside the administrator account. Avoid distributing the QR code before configuration is complete if participants should not enter early.
Checks before the event
Complete the quiz on a device similar to the participants’ phones. Confirm that text is readable, images load and the intended ending appears. If participant data is collected, review the privacy notice and consent settings as well.
Deactivate and publish again
Deactivation temporarily blocks public access without deleting questions or results. Reactivating the quiz keeps the same link and QR code. Run another test after any substantial content change.
Final checklist
- every question has answers;
- correct answers are marked;
- mobile layout and images have been tested;
- the quiz is active;
- the public link works outside the dashboard;
- privacy settings match the purpose of the quiz.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a participant see that the quiz is inactive?

Does the quiz link change after reactivation?
No. Deactivation and reactivation keep the same public URL and QR code.
What is the best way to share access?
Use a QR code on a presentation screen for in-person events and a direct link for remote participants.
